How to Convert DVD to iPod

Want to know the absolute quickest and easiest method for converting DVD movies to your iPod or even the iPhone? Well this how to simple guide will show you exactly how to do that in just a few minutes.

To get started, you need to convert the DVD into a format that is compatible with the iPod, which is MP4 (mpeg 4), in a resolution of 320 x 240. Don't worry too much about the technical specs, because the software will do pretty much all of the work.

To have the DVD converted and get it onto your iPod, you will need a DVD to iPod converter and iTunes. An assumption will be made that you already have iTunes installed, since you are using an iPod or iPhone already. The first part of the process is performing the conversion, after this we need to get the file into iTunes, so that it can be synced and added to your iPod or iPhone device.

Let's get started with the conversion process.

  1. You have downloaded and installed DVD to iPod converter from the link above. Note: there are other good converters, but the Cucusoft is about the best.
  2. Insert the DVD you want converted
  3. Open the DVD via Dvd to iPod converter, and choose open DVD, or you can manually select a vob file yourself
  4. Choose the title you wisth to convert, the largest file size and duration will be the movie
  5. Set any optional preferences, we recommend defaults for starters
  6. Click convert

Now that is pretty easy, probably the easiest way to do the conversion. Just give it time. Depending on computer speed and the size of the video, it could take a little time to finish.

Now to get the converted video file onto your iPod or iPhone.

  1. Open your iTunes
  2. Keep the"Manually manage music and videos" unchecked
  3. Click the File menu, select "Add File to Library"
  4. Choose the file you just converted
  5. Under "Movies", you will be able to right click on the file and select "Get info", now you can select the "Video Kind". This should put it in the related playlist.
  6. From the File menu, select "Sync iPod"
  7. The video should now be available on your iPod

Have fun!!
